I continued my tour of Colorado pond rinks today with an invite to Kevin Scriboni’s incredible rink nestled in Evergreen’s picturesque Soda Creek neighborhood. Kevin has invested over 100 hours on his rink this winter……and it shows! Dual rinks, great ice, really good hockey, and donuts!!
My jersey of choice today was in honor of our DAWG Nation – St. Louis Chapter. On Friday night our hard working crew from the “Gateway to the West” was able to pass out their largest check ever, $123k to the Brown family. Colin Brown was a standout high school player that was tragically hit by stray bullet that took his life in November. Our St Louis crew continues to spearhead an impressive rally that includes the entire St Louis hockey community.
Kevin is facing his own adversity as a heart attack in 2024 has led to the discovery of a rare autoimmune disease. Although this big hearted man faces daily heath challenges, the energy that Kevin garners from his hockey family cannot be overstated and is an extremely important ingredient in his recovery.
Here’s to the Brown family as they navigate life without their beloved Colin. And here’s to Kevin as he continues to figure out his new norm.
Haven’t decided on my rink destination for next weekend, but rest assured, it’ll be epic!
